DivisionThe Community Forensics Services Department at the Forensic Aftercare Clinic located in New Orleans, LA.

The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long term psychiatric are in coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana 

The Forensic Aftercare Clinic is seeking a passionate officer who will provide direct services to clients in Regions 1, 9, and 10 including tracking and monitoring court processes, competency restoration under the Settlement Agreement, supervise all HR aspects for the 7 DGC's who report to and are managed by FAC, oversee compliance according to ELMHS, FAC, and CFS policies and standards and EP's required by the Joint Commission.

Position Duties

One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been in forensic health services:

A master’s degree in a social science field, social work, behavioral health field, public health, education, or health administration plus five years of experience providing behavioral health treatment; OR

A Juris Doctorate plus four years of experience providing behavioral health treatment; OR

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Social Worker (CSW) plus four years of experience providing behavioral health treatment.

Job Duties:  

In this role, you will:

  • Direct, organize, evaluate, coordinate and supervise Forensic Conditional Release Program for target population probated under La.C.Crm.P. 657.1 (Act 800) for LDH in assigned region(s). 
  • Directly supervise Forensic District Coordinators, who serve as mental health probation officers. Assign appropriate staff and monitors for accurate completion of all documentation and assigned tasks within stated deadlines. 
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and direct the development of programs and services for individuals with mental illness who are under the supervision or in the custody of the Criminal Justice system which includes, but is not limited to, jail-based competency restoration cases, civil committees, and Conditional Release cases. 
  • Provide technical assistance, training and consultation to agency staff, contract providers (physicians, psychologists, nurses and social workers), Sheriffs, State Probation, Judges and Coroners and other personnel of the Criminal Justice System regarding delivery of services to individuals with mental illness who are under the supervision of or in the custody of a Criminal Justice System. Researches, analyzes and interprets the impact of federal, state and local legislation, advises agency officials. 
  • Organize and maintain records, prepare correspondence and reports, coordinate all data from private providers, public providers, courts and various other sources pertaining to assigned program responsibility including, but not limited to, Conditional Release cases. 
  • Participate in educational trainings and competency requirements as mandated for accreditation and licensure of the facility, as well as mandated by all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of LDH, OBH, ELMHS, and Civil Service. 

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:  The position may be filled as a Probational (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified. And Agency-Wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointed if selected.
Compensation:  This position has a Minimum Hire Rate:  $2,362.40 bi-weekly/ $29.53 hourly.
