Position Summary:

The Lead Bartender is responsible for running the bar operation in conjunction with the Taps Manager. Directly responsible for opening and closing the restaurant assuring all staff arrives on time and in uniform for shift. Preparing and serving beverages to guests in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. They ensure a clean and well-stocked bar, maintain knowledge of drink recipes and bar equipment, and provide excellent customer service to enhance the guest experience. Will be responsible for assisting with customer relations and staff accountability when the Manager is not present.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:

  • Cover the manager’s days off, holding staff accountable and budget on target.
  • Assures guest satisfaction while paying close attention to detail and fellow staff.
  • Confirms additional duties are being completed by assigned Taps staff.
  • Customer service, greet guests, take drink orders. Thorough knowledge of our menu is critical.
  • ID guests in accordance to Idaho state liquor and identification laws. Monitor guest intoxication and take action or get help, if necessary.
  • Prepare and serve beverages, mix, garnish, and serve drinks according to standard recipes or customer specifications. Responsible for ensuring minimal waste by pouring correct measurements.
  • Maintain cleanliness by keeping the bar area clean and organized, including glassware, tools, and surfaces, in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and restock bar inventory and supplies as needed.
  • Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and operate the point-of-sale system efficiently. Turn in accurate deposits with end of shift reports.
  • Keep a comprehensive schedule of sports/bands/mountain events in harmony, avoiding overlaps. Coordinates events and activation within the bar.
  • Weekly (as a minimum) promotional Facebook posts regarding said events/specials withing the bar
  • Assist with Taps team training and development.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • May bartend for group events and weddings
  • Other duties as assigned

Specific Job Skills:

License/Certifications- Idaho State Police Alcohol Beverage Training Certificate, we will help you acquire. 

Technical- Basic computer knowledge and comfortable with a computer based point of sale (Squirrel is our current system).

Physical Capabilities- Able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per shift.  Will lift 25lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Additional- Strong attention to detail. Must be capable of managing and performing multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong leadership and excellent communication skills required.
 

Education/Related Experience:

Minimum education required- English reading, writing and communication; plus basic math.

Minimum time in related position-   2 years F&B experience with demonstrated competence; beer knowledge required and wine knowledge preferred with demonstrated competence. 1 year supervisory experience required.
