Opportunity

Vanguard Resources, Inc. (VRI) – an industry-leading facilities management company, in business for nearly 30 years, (still family owned & operated), is actively recruiting for a skilled & reliable General Building Maintenance Technician to join our facilities management team at our Client’s site, in a corporate high-rise office building setting in Dallas, TX.  This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks to ensure our building and grounds are kept in exceptional condition. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in general maintenance, safety procedures, and customer service.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of building systems and equipment to ensure optimal functionality and identify necessary repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Respond to and complete maintenance requests promptly and professionally, logging all work in the computerized maintenance      management system (CMMS).
  • Execute minor electrical tasks (e.g., replacing light  fixtures, switches, and outlets) and plumbing repairs (e.g., fixing leaks,      unclogging drains).
  • Handle carpentry tasks, including repairing doors, patching drywall, and painting.
  • Provide support for office moves, furniture assembly, and space reconfigurations.
  • Ensure all common areas, including lobbies, restrooms, and occupant spaces, are well-maintained and in excellent working order.
  • Assist with the oversight and inspection of work performed by outside contractors, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Respond to building emergencies (e.g., power outages, water leaks) in a timely and effective manner, requiring participation in      an after-hours on-call rotation.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, inventory, and inspections.

Requirements

  

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. Vocational or technical training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in general building maintenance, with experience in a corporate or high-rise      environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with life safety systems and emergency procedures.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with tenants, vendors, and      management.
  • Strong problem-solving and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency with modern technology, including using a computer for work orders and communication.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50–80 pounds, and working from heights (e.g., ladders).
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and extensive criminal background check
