PURPOSE
Provide oral interpreting and written translation services for language minority
students and their families. Serve as a liaison between language minority families,
FWCS, schools, and personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- Graduation from high school.
- Must possess knowledge of the general aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in assigned field.
- Must be proficient in English and at least one other language.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- College degree, training in the field of translation and interpreting, recognized certification in translation and/or interpreting.
- Candidates with two years’ experience in translation and/or interpreting, and experience working with students or families in a social services or educational environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide interpretation and translation services to facilitate communications
among students, faculty, staff, parents and others; utilize appropriate register of
the language and intent of the speaker. Serve as a liaison between language
minority families, FWCS, schools, and personnel.
- Interpret for meetings, conferences, telephone calls, counseling functions, field
trips, assemblies, and various other events and activities. Assist families with
enrolling and completing required forms and applications
- Translate written communications between FWCS personnel, schools, outside
agencies and limited or non-English speaking families.
- Attend and participate in various meetings, conferences, trainings and in-services
as assigned.
- Must be able to transport self to various locations within the FWCS district.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet specific needs of the school or unit.

- Strength and Stamina: Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty-five (25) pounds or more.
- Outdoor Work: Tolerance of work outside in various weather conditions.
