PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Flag Football coach will facilitate co-ed flag football for 4th and 5th grade students at Walla Walla elementary schools.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Implement teaching and coaching philosophies/rules consistent with the WWPS Flag Football – NFL Flag Football Rules
  2. Instruct participants in individual, group and team techniques, tactics and physical training necessary for the realization of success and enjoyment of athletics.
  3. Communicate a clearly defined philosophy which emphasizes ethical competition, sportsmanship, leadership, and citizenship with students, parents, staff, and community members.
  4. Utilize effective coaching techniques for skill development, strategy, and interpersonal team relations.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

District Athletic Director, 21st Century Programs Director, Building Principal and Human Resources.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
  • Successful experience in teaching technical skills specific to this coaching position or coaching 4th/5th grade sports.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Verified coaching techniques/training in the area of flag football/youth sports scope and sequence of skill development, safety, teamwork, strategy, interpersonal relations, routine training, practice and game organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, parents, coaches, administrators, staff, and community.
  • Evidence of being a positive role model.
  • Professional integrity, vigor, flexibility, enthusiasm.

Licenses/Special Requirements

  • Completed Employment Application/Background Check.
  • Resume of education, experience and references to include three current recommendations.
