Position Summary:
The Engineering Fabrics Technician (Pattern Designer) provides direct support to manufacturing and engineering activities including day-to-day production support and new project start-ups This person designs fabric pattern templates for new prototype designs while managing and maintaining the files of established product design standards. Responsible for creating a unified look and feel across all textile pieces of all Product family groups. This individual will be responsible for collecting data, including costs and specifications of patterns. This will include creating patterns for fabric, vinyl for a variety of upholstered furniture designs and will assist Manufacturing with job specific questions about new products and/or changes to existing products.

The Engineering Fabrics Technician will report to Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Location: This position will be based in Hialeah, FL.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides technical and application assistance/troubleshooting to production, quality, and sales departments
Makes corrections and updates to routers and BOM (Bill of Materials) per redlines or engineering
Assists in the resolution of quality / engineering errors
Use analytical and conceptual skills to troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues
Proactively gets involved in helping to launch new projects that involve fabrics and Upholstery
Maintain current Canopy, Curtains and Cover Bags Designs
Create New Canopy Design for New products
Create digital CAD Files for Fabric Patterns and CNC cutting programs
Complete understanding of the fabrics design, cutting and sewing process
Create Renderings and 2D Cad layouts
Accurately interpret the furniture designer’s shape and contour details from 3D or 2-dimensional drawings and design cover patterns to meet the design criteria
Extract data from 3D models to design fabric pattern components
Create prototype patterns for each material and ensure the cut and sewing components meet design, manufacturing and quality requirements. Document cutting/sewing specifications for product costing
Other tasks as assigned
Education and Qualifications:
Must be fluent in English and Spanish
Two-Year Associate Degree or proven experience in 2D-CAD drafting
Experience in Computer aided Drafting, AutoCAD, DraftSight or SolidWorks
Possess the technical knowledge to perform all design functions with CAD and design software.
Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in manufacturing environment.
Experience in the upholstered furniture industry a plus
Skilled at using hand tools and light manufacturing equipment
Ability to complete tasks on-time with minimal supervision/guidance
Basic math, blueprint reading and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to multitask, think analytically, solve problems, communicate strongly, pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and react quickly to business needs.
