Position Purpose: Instruct students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
Responsibilities:
Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
Teaches District approved curriculum.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Keeps up to date sub notes/plans available.
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Manages student behaviors consistent with the philosophy of the building administrative team.
Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior in collaboration with building principal to help ensure safety and positive school climate.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and --in harmony with the goals-- establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate and accurate records and prepares progress reports using District-approved software and programs and as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science or equivalent ND Teaching License
Preferred Qualifications: Two to three years teaching experience Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations
