Summary/Objective

The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the supply chain operations, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, planning, and distribution. This leadership role ensures that supply chain strategies align with company objectives, drive operational excellence, minimize costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

 

Essential Functions

  • Lead and develop a high-performing supply chain team.
  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Lead sourcing and procurement strategies.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels to balance working capital and service levels.
  • Manage transportation, warehousing, and distribution strategies to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Optimize logistics networks and transportation costs.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and negotiate contracts to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
  • Oversee demand forecasting, inventory planning, and material requirements planning (MRP).
  • Use data analytics to improve visibility, efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Ensure supply chain processes comply with legal, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
  • Develop risk management strategies to mitigate disruptions.
  • Sets the highest ethical standards for self and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Metrics

  • Supplier performance (on-time delivery and quality).
  • Supplier cost performance (PPV, landed cost).
  • Inventory Turns.
  • Excess and Obsolete exposure.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in supply chain management with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
    • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TOC, PDCA, DMAIC, 8D, 5-Why).
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and supply chain technologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation abilities.
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 or QMS systems.

Preferred Experience

  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience including 5+ years of procurement management experience.
  • Experience with steel mills, steel tube/rod, and cartridge valve suppliers.
  • Oracle ERP Experience.
  • Certification (e.g., CSCP, CPSM, CPIM) is a plus.
