The role of the Senior Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. Manages multiple projects involving the coordination of products, services and personnel on site. Manages the overall schedule and financial performance of the projects in order to deliver a quality product, on-time, with maximum margin and at the lowest achievable cost.
The Opportunity ...:- Serve as the primary internal contact with management for the projects and coordinate communication between the various functional areas, other JBT product areas and requests from other JBT divisions involved in the projects.
- Develop project plans and schedules for customer projects by working with functional groups (Sales/Applications, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Installation) to develop and assign tasks.
- Interact with customers and other departments so that customer project requirements are fully understood and documented (i.e. scoped).
- Work with sales managers to determine priorities. Provide input regarding delivery dates and project schedules.
- Define, implement and manage the project management process and procedures. Provide the technical overview and participate in technical decisions that will have an effect on project safety, schedule or cost.
- Procure, assign and schedule resources as needed, internal or external if necessary, in order to execute multiple simultaneous projects.
- Manage realistic project schedules to ensure on-time completion of the contractually required project milestones and final delivery of components and service.
- Manage and negotiate Change Orders and other changes to the contract scope of work.
- Plan and coordinate project installation as required with service, customer and outside contractors.
- Verify final inspection and machine status prior to shipping, ensuring that what has been sold is what the customer is expecting.
- Generate, collect and maintain for easy reference, all project and system documentation.
- Facilitate communications between cross company and functional teams to ensure that issues are identified and incorporated into schedules and processes, through all project phases.
- Give feedback to Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Service on machines running in the field, to improve design, manufacturing process, installation, and future quotations.
- Maintain an understanding and commitment to business goals and creates energy and action toward those goals.
- Complete project closure activities including final reports, lessons learned, official customer closure communications.
- Lead and provide guidance for other project managers that may be assigned on a temporary basis.
Experience:
Manadatory:
- Minimum of ten years’ experience in a project management role, managing large capital projects
- Six to eight years’ experience in Engineering, Scheduling, Procurement or Planning, including experience working with or in a mechanical manufacturing organization.
- Experience working directly with customers; able to be the “face of the company”
- Demonstrated skills in working with Microsoft Project or other scheduling or project management software
- Unquestionable ethics and integrity
- Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of Project Management techniques and standards.
- Demonstrated skills in organization and planning.
- Demonstrated effective leadership ability within a matrix team environment and contributes significantly to team performance.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and effective communication across functional and managerial boundaries.
- Demonstrated verbal, written and presentation skills.
Preferred:
- Five years’ or more of experience in a project management role, specifically with managing large capital projects
- Experience with liquid handling equipment (pumps, piping, valves, etc.)
- Experience supervising field installation crews
