TAMKO is seeking an Industrial Mechanical Technician at our Tuscaloosa, AL facility to join our maintenance team. This role is focused on installing, maintaining, and repairing plant machinery, equipment, and structures to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, detail-oriented, and capable of troubleshooting and repairing both mechanical and basic electrical systems.

- Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and plant infrastructure.
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting using manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
- Assist with electrical work including wiring, motors, and basic electrical components.
- Conduct preventive maintenance procedures according to TAMKO standards and document results.
- Inspect, test, and monitor equipment performance to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Dismantle and reassemble defective equipment; assist with installation of new machinery.
- Perform welding and cutting tasks to fabricate or repair parts.
- Record and maintain accurate work orders, preventive maintenance logs, and repair documentation.
- Track parts usage, maintain tool accountability, and support storeroom processes.
- Identify, recommend, and document corrective actions for equipment issues.
- Support safe work practices by inspecting tools, following Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and adhering to all TAMKO safety policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical technology preferred.
- 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial plant environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with both mechanical and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Good oral and written communication skills.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to position himself/herself to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or maintain heavy plant equipment. This may require climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting and/or stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift or move heavier objects with assistance.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dusts and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment. The employee must have the ability to understand and mitigate these and other risks, including by following all prescribed safety rules, and must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary.
