JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Training and Development Manager is responsible for initiating, developing, implementing, and monitoring learning and development programs for all employees across the Java House business. This role will play a crucial role in enhancing the new hire training and development experience, supporting career growth, and driving organizational performance. This role will partner with leadership and subject matter experts to identify training opportunities, develop curriculum, and deliver engaging and effective learning experiences that align with business goals. The Training and Development Manager will work to develop videos, e-learning content, and in-person professional development programs to drive organizational growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assess organizational training and development needs and develop a cohesive and comprehensive training program that encompasses training needs for a variety of roles and functions within Java House
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation programs for all new employees
  • Design and implement training programs, workshops, ongoing development, and e-learning initiatives
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats, such as role-playing, simulations, group discussions, shadowing, videos, lectures, etc. 
  • Collaborate with department heads, subject matter experts and other key leaders to determine critical training needs, succession planning, leadership development, and career growth 
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of training programs and adjust as necessary
  • Select, own, and maintain the Learning Management System, external vendors, and consultants as necessary
  • Ensure all training initiatives support each function of the organization (sales, compliance, business development, marketing, etc.)
  • Manage training budgets, resources, and scheduling 
  • Stay current with industry best practices, trends, technology, systems, processes, etc.
  • Periodically work in-field with sales personnel to gain insights and develop continuous cycles of improvement
  • Develop and maintain a career development matrix across Java House roles

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in sales, instructional design, digital media, or related field; master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience with training design, learning and development, executing training or organizational development
  • Strong self-starting attitude
  • Experience with Articulate 360 preferred
  • Experience managing and administering Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning tools
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design methods and adult learning principles
  • Instructional design and curriculum development strategies
  • In-field sales experience preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to deliver engaging in-person and virtual training sessions to diverse audiences and different learning styles
  • Skilled in partnering with leaders, subject matter experts, HR, and cross-functional teams to align training needs
  • Ability to assess competing demands, identify critical tasks, and allocate resources effectively to meet deadlines
  • Take proactive steps to address challenges or opportunities, demonstrate persistence, and ensure completion of tasks with accuracy and timeliness
  • Work effectively with colleagues at all levels, foster positive working relationships, and contribute to a productive team environment
