Position Summary:
The Location Operations Manager within the agronomy division of Agfinity plays a critical role in supporting the Location Manager by overseeing daily operational activities, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and optimizing the efficiency of agronomic processes. This position involves close collaboration with the Location Manager to align operational strategies with the company's overall objectives, particularly in areas such as inventory management, equipment maintenance, customer service, sales deliveries and providing valuable solutions and services to the customers of the cooperative. The Operations Manager serves as a vital link between the Location Manager and the operational team, ensuring that daily activities support the strategic goals of the agronomy division. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of agronomic products and services to effectively contribute to the success of Agfinity's operations.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee daily site operations, including equipment maintenance, facility safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage all location expenses relative to the business environment and ensure profitable delivery for the cooperative.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize workflow, reduce downtime, and lower operational cost.
- Coordinate seasonal activities, such as planting, application, and harvest support, to align with agronomic best practices.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Business, or related field; advanced agricultural certifications preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in agronomy or agricultural operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of crop inputs, application equipment, and agronomic practices.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
- Oversee daily site operations, including equipment maintenance, facility safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage all location expenses relative to the business environment and ensure profitable delivery for the cooperative.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize workflow, reduce downtime, and lower operational costs.
- Coordinate seasonal activities—such as planting, application, and harvest support—to align with agronomic best practices.
- Maintain full accountability for agronomy product inventory, including seed, crop protection, and fertility inputs. Management of inventory includes costs, sales pricing, and market competitiveness.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with procurement to ensure stock levels meet demand forecasts, avoiding stockouts and overstock scenarios.
- Recruit, develop, and retain a skilled agronomy and support team through coaching, performance evaluations, and career path planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Champion safety and training programs, ensuring all staff complete required certifications and participate in ongoing education.
Reasoning Ability:
- Uphold zero-harm safety culture by achieving 100% compliance with safety audits and incident reporting protocols.
- Improve operational efficiency through key metrics such as order cycle time, fill rate, and on-time delivery.
- Surpass member and customer satisfaction benchmarks.
- Meet or exceed annual sales targets and margin goals, while managing inventory turns and write-offs within acceptable thresholds.
- Deliver an outstanding employee experience, reflected in retention rates, engagement scores, and training completion.
