JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Business System Analyst has four (4) responsibility areas for the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to include: 1.) Analyze system reports to ensure data accuracy and perform corrective action and 2.) Award-sponsored projects within DASH Project and DASH Research System to generate metric reports and 3.) Provide analyses of data management and accounting metrics and 4.) Provide support for digital platforms by analyzing, updating and maintaining the Office of Sponsored Programs webpage.
Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the accuracy and integrity of data information entered in the systems related to sponsored programs activity.
- Monitors internal controls to enhance data management and data integrity.
- Understands existing and emerging related technologies to facilitate best business practices.
- Develops quality control review processes and corrects data entry in coordination with other OSP members.
- Assists with developing and/or writing the standard operating procedures.
- Records the agreement issuance status in systems as applicable.
- Identifies, evaluates, supports, and solves complex issues related to sponsored project logistics.
- Performs extensive problem analysis, design, system development, and documentation as necessary to complete specific assignments.
- Manages, monitors, and upgrades the OSP website.
- Develops and presents training to end users to ensure streamlining initiatives.
- Conducts content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
- Creates appropriate website content aligned with the University and Research's strategy.
- Maintains a high level of knowledge and understanding of federal guidelines and regulations.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in sponsored programs administration, data management, business administration, or a related field; OR Master’s Degree in lieu of experience. (Prior experience in an academic environment is preferred.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating situations.
- Ability to apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; including the ability to create simple functions and macros, tables, and forms.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to proofread and edit for grammar, spelling, syntax, and style; compute, verify and compare figures; detect discrepancies in information or records.
- Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
- Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
- Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
