Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Data Scientist is responsible for working with business stakeholders to understand their goals and determine how data can be used to achieve those goals. The Data Scientist designs predictive data modeling processes, pipelines relevant data, engineers model features, creates and maintains models, and leads data analysis. They share meaningful insights with peers, stakeholders and executive staff. 

Qualifications: 

SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. Such knowledge is critical to ensure the achievement of SCF’s vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, and mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services: 

1. Master’s degree in medical health informatics, data science, statistics, mathematics, public health, computer science; OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 

2. Three (3) years of experience in a Data Science position or equivalent experience that includes the following: data analytics, Data modeling, visualization, and Data governance; feature engineering and machine learning utilizing multiple programming languages; use of statistical methods, techniques and theory. 

Native Preference:  

Under P.L. 93-638, as amended, the company pursues a policy of Native preference in hiring, contracting and training.  SCF Human Resources must receive certification before applicants receive preference.
