Overview
The Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Nurse Compliance Officer to join our Compliance Division. This pivotal role involves ensuring that Louisiana nurses uphold professional standards of conduct and practice while also promoting public protection through fair and consistent application of regulatory and disciplinary processes.

As an RN Compliance Officer, you will work at the intersection of nursing practice, administrative law, and public health, evaluating complaints and coordinating investigations. This position provides a unique opportunity for an RN to leverage clinical knowledge in a regulatory setting to uphold the integrity of the nursing profession.

Key Competencies
  • Registered Nurse license in good standing with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
  • Strong understanding of the Louisiana Nurse Practice Act, professional ethics, and nursing standards.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases with attention to detail, discretion, objectivity, and professionalism.
  • Comfortable working in a regulatory or legal environment.
  • Prior experience in compliance, risk management, peer review, or legal nursing is highly desirable.

JOB APPOINTMENT: THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED AS A FULL-TIME JOB APPOINTMENT FOR A LIMITED DURATION NOT TO EXCEED FOUR YEARS

Position Duties

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:

Four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A bachelor's degree in nursing plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A master's degree in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A doctorate in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties:

  • Receives information regarding actions or omissions by licensees and others that may represent a violation of the Nurse Practice Act
  • Timely notifies respondents of allegations/information in accordance with statutory requirements and case law
  • Communicate and establish relationships with other regulatory and enforcement agencies, employers, schools, and the nursing community. Accurately answer inquiries regarding the Nurse Practice Act and investigative rules and policies.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities, continually improving all processes as opportunities for improvement arise.
