POSITION DETAILS:
Assignment Term: 2025-2026 school year
MakerSpace Specialist:
- Teach TK-5th grade students how to use technology responsibly and creatively.
- Maintain a fun, creative learning environment using the MakerSpace for students who struggle with classroom lessons, teamwork, technology, or general thinking of “outside the box.”
- Emphasize “Design Thinking” and “Fail Quickly” concepts.
- Instruct students on Digital Citizenship lessons and activities.
- Develop lesson plans with teachers at each grade level to implement MakerSpace learning. Typically, this involves learning about the teacher's curriculum and making suggestions on Makerspace projects and activities to build interest and engagement.
- Use iPads and Chromebooks to teach the Google login process. Even though many of the students are facile in using technology from home, there are often surprising gaps in their knowledge of some of the basics such as logins, general keyboard, and mouse use, etc.
- Encourage the use of CVUSD Technology standards for growth and development with new and emerging technology.
- Work with teachers to help foster technology use in the classroom, helping provide a UDL learning environment.
- Demonstrate and exemplify a cooperative attitude when working together with the teachers, parents and volunteers as students and classrooms are in the MakerSpace. The kids are always watching!
- Prep room and equipment before each classroom arrives to maximize their learning time.
- Keep on top of apps and lessons specific to the technology used in the MakerSpace as it updates or changes to keep all equipment running and usable.
- Manage the use and maintenance of the equipment in the MakerSpace:
- Green Screen technologies
- Little Bits
- Osmo
- Robotics
- 3D Printing
- Lego Mindstorms
- New equipment is added as the school year progresses.
Approximately 20 hours per week which includes prep time.
$20-25 an hour depending on experience

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or equivalency.
