Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PICU RN) - Travel Position 

Location: Asheville, NC 

Job Type: Travel Contract   

Duration: 13 weeks  

Shift: 3x12s Nights 

Pay: $1815/week  

 

Job Description:  

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents with complex medical conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, a passion for pediatric care, and the ability to respond quickly and effectively in high-pressure situations. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Deliver comprehensive, age-appropriate care to critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced PICU environment. 

  • Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, hemodynamic status, and overall condition. 

  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced treatments according to physician orders. 

  • Perform and support critical procedures including IV starts, catheter insertions, lumbar puncture (LP) support, and central line dressing changes. 

  • Provide specialized care such as ventilator management, ICP monitoring, tracheostomy care, and tube feeding/placement. 

  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans. 

  • Support families by providing education, updates, and emotional assistance throughout the treatment process. 

  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing 

  • Active RN license in North Carolina 

  • Minimum of 1 year of PICU experience required 

  • PALS certification required 

  • Proficiency in Cerner charting system 

  • Ability to float to Pediatrics and NICU as needed 

  • Strong skills in hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and critical pediatric interventions
