We are seeking our first dedicated Senior Product Controller to found and build this function from the ground up. This is a greenfield opportunity to establish the product control discipline at a pivotal stage in the firm’s growth. With an expanding set of portfolio managers, asset classes, and trading strategies, this role will be instrumental in developing scalable controls, overseeing P&L reporting, and partnering across Accounting, Operations, Technology, Risk, portfolio managers, and senior management.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role with wide exposure and strategic impact. The Senior Product Controller will define workflows, implement best practices, and ensure the integrity of portfolio valuations and P&L. The role includes responsibility for building control frameworks across internal systems, our shadow accounting platform, and third-party administrator.
You will serve as a key architect of a core finance function, bridging relationships across teams and building transparency and insight at the highest levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end P&L reporting and analysis, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of insights to senior management and portfolio management teams.
Drive the expansion of the firm’s P&L and financial reporting capabilities, enabling the business to scale effectively. Propose reporting, tooling, and resourcing as needed.
Define the handover process and boundaries of P&L reconciliation process; clarify divisions of labor to apportion responsibility among Operations, service providers, Product Control, and Accounting.
Ensure timely resolution of breaks and valuation discrepancies, escalating as necessary.
Serve as the primary liaison between Finance, Operations, Risk, and Front office, providing transparency on performance and financial reporting.
Lead new product implementations, trade flow processes, and valuation methodologies.
Champion best practices and continuous improvement, bringing a strong control mindset and a builder’s mentality to every process.
Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture and mentor future team members as the function grows.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
7-10 years experience in product control, valuation and/or financial reporting within a hedge fund or asset manager.
Strong knowledge of financial products, hedge fund ecosystems and financial reporting standards
Proven ability to work independently, problem-solve, manage oversight functions and drive process improvement
Advanced technical skills with strong Excel and SQL/Python skills highly desirable
Experience with Arcesium a plus.
The salary for this role is anticipated to be between $150,000 and $175,000. This range does not include any potential bonus amounts, other forms of compensation, or benefits offered. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s skills, qualifications, education and experience.
