About the Role

Flinders University is seeking a dynamic Strategic Planning Lead to oversee a multidisciplinary team across campus planning, transport and retail. This role is responsible for developing and implementing integrated strategies that align with the University’s vision, enhance user experience, and ensure the effective use of space and resources.
 

This position provides team leadership, working closely with stakeholders to deliver innovative, future-focused solutions. It requires strong leadership capability, broad technical expertise, and the ability to navigate complex environments with flexibility and confidence.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Collaborating with Colleges, Professional Portfolios and other relevant stakeholders to identify their business needs, develop solutions, and deliver outcomes aligned with teaching, research and campus strategies.

  • Providing oversight for planning initiatives, including scoping and business case development across planning, transport and retail. Ensuring all plans align with operational priorities.

  • Monitoring and reporting on performance metrics, ensuring transparency and accountability.

About You

As the Strategic Planning Lead, you will bring extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams, with a strong track record in strategic planning, business case development, and managing budgets and resources. You will thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments, applying critical thinking to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
 

You are a collaborative and adaptable leader, confident in engaging stakeholders and influencing at all levels. Ambitious and growth-focused, you are committed to continuous improvement and open to new ideas. Experience with compliance requirements, planning systems, and the higher education sector would be highly regarded.
 

About Property, Facilities and Development

This role is part of the Property, Facilities and Development (PFD) team at Flinders. Our team works across all of Flinders' places, spaces, and physical infrastructure. We work across five key areas: Strategic Planning and Customer Experience; Capital Development; Customer and Site Services; Sustainability and Strategic Projects.  The team are responsible for the planning, development, capital delivery, management, and maintenance of all University spaces to ensure they are fit for purpose and support Flinders to deliver its strategic objectives.
