The Tools you need: 

  • Certification as an Autism Peer Specialist from a recognized accrediting body.
  • Personal lived experience with autism, either as an individual on the spectrum or as a close family member.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in peer support services.
  • Basic proficiency in documentation and use of digital tools for record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with local and regional autism-related resources and advocacy organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals with autism, sharing lived experiences to foster understanding and trust.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies, social skills, and self-advocacy techniques tailored to their specific needs.
