Salary Range: $77,975 - $116,962
Job Purpose:
The Clinic Supervisor of the Primary Care and Walk in Clinic oversees the daily operations of the clinic to ensure efficient and quality care is provided. The Clinic Supervisor is responsible for staffing, training, performance management, initiating and supporting process improvement, and overseeing department operations. The Clinic Supervisor serves as a professional role model and may be involved with direct patient care as needed.
Duties:
- Responsible for daily operations of the department, assigning duties and tasks to personnel and supervising performance.
- Coordinates all leave for staff including PTO requests and approved leave in accordance with Island Hospital policies and procedures.
- Assists with preparation for monthly clinic staff meetings and may lead some meetings throughout the year.
- Oversees inventory of supplies and requests for new supplies and equipment.
- Performs employee performance reviews at the completion of the probationary period and annually thereafter with input from clinic manager and others.
- Screens, interviews and selects candidates together with the leadership team, assists in making hiring decisions.
- Engages in coaching and performance development in compliance with Hospital policies and practices. Follows the guidance and direction provided by Human Resources when addressing employee performance through the progressive disciplinary process.
- Manage patient complaints to ensure effective service recovery including timely communication to the patient, appropriate review of circumstances and discussion with staff, completion of reporting and/or notification requirements including consulting Quality & Risk Management as needed, and introducing and measuring performance improvement opportunities.
- Assists department manager as needed in preparation of budget by providing clinical input gathered from physicians and staff.
- Works in developing work schedule based on approved criteria and ensures staff compliance with same.
- Oversees daily staffing needs, arranging replacement staff as necessary.
- Maintains staff certification documentation and competency where applicable.
- Possesses knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement principles and supports the hospital's philosophy of performance improvement. Works with Island Hospital QA and Safety teams to ensure QA and compliance measures are met and adhered to.
- Employee will function at all times within guidelines established in the Island Hospital
HIPAA Compliance Policies and Confidentiality Agreements.
- Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors,
Managers, Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
- Must meet regular attendance standard and must stay at, or below, average sick leave utilization levels.
- May assist with policy and procedure development and writing
- Facilitates orientation and training of new employees. Rounds with new employees to assess the “fit” with the team; creates bonding opportunities for staff camaraderie
- Sets and maintains standards of conduct and performance for the clinic staff. If additional knowledge/training is needed for some staff, coordinates to provide the instruction.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide direction and development to employees by coaching and identifying training needs
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in an outpatient setting
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
- Must have the ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
Requirements:
- Minimum two (2) years of previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Previous clinical experience in an outpatient Physician practice strongly preferred with active clinical license issued by the WA Department of Health preferred.
- Some evenings and weekends will be required
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to inside environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The employee may be exposed to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes and communicable diseases as related to a health care environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands:
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, and have hearing sufficient to understand conversations, both in person and on the telephone. The employee is often required to sit for potentially long periods of time throughout the workday. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arm. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus sufficient to operate computer systems.
