The Facilities Associate is responsible for various duties related to the cleaning and maintenance of assigned buildings and grounds. Performs routine repairs, installations and moves as scheduled or as necessary. Conducts preventive maintenance of equipment as scheduled.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (others may be assigned based upon program needs):

  • Performs a variety of routine servicing and repair operations to HRA's buildings, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and maintains grounds in proper condition, including lawn care and snow removal as required.
  • Installs partitions, doors, window frames/glass, ceiling, floor coverings, furniture, and equipment.
  • Assembles new equipment (not covered by trade technicians) as needed.
  • Prepares surfaces and applies paint or wallpaper.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections on facilities and equipment as scheduled.
  • Performs all phases of cleaning operations including but not limited to waste removal, lavatories, floors, and overall facility cleanliness.
  • Maintains and stores equipment and cleaning tools.
  • Lifts, moves, and transports all types of supplies, furniture and equipment.
  • Any additional duties required by the Program Manager and/or Division Director.

 Minimum Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma (GED) or higher preferred. Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation is required.

 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Must be able to prioritize work requests and handle multiple tasks while projecting a courteous image.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to read, follow instructions, and use basic math skills required.
  • Incumbent must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment, including working weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
  • Excellent oral communication required as well as the ability to work with and direct others.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

  • Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use equipment;  see and read printed material with or without vision aids; speak in audible tones so that others may understand; physical agility to lift and carry up to 100 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to walk and to reach overhead. 
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.

 Language Requirements: 

  • Ability to read, write and speak English, Spanish and/or Polish (Preferred)
