The Quality Specialist plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of engineering designs, suppliers, manufacturing processes, materials, and products.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of more experienced Quality professionals, gathers, analyzes and interprets process, product and financial data to improve product quality and increase effectiveness and efficiency of processes using statistical process control, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma analysis tools.
  • Supports supplier evaluations and certifications. Performs quality capability assessments to assure that procurement requirements can be realized.
  • Participates in projects to improve quality processes using Lean principles.
  • Under the guidance of more experienced Quality professionals, conducts in-house and supplier audits, issues audit reports, and follows up to assure that corrective actions are completed and are effective.
  • Under the guidance of more experienced Quality professionals, conducts root cause analyses and implements corrective/preventive actions
  • Under the guidance of more experienced Quality professionals, develops inspection and test plans to assure the quality of products and components.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares and delivers reports and presentations communicating results of quality assurance activities to team members and management.
  • Under the guidance of more experienced Quality professionals, logs and facilitates completion of Corrective actions, customer specification reviews, drawing releases and document approvals.
  • Other technical duties as required or as assigned by higher roles.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of API Q1 and ISO 9001 recommended
  • Audit Training/Experience recommended
  • Enterprise Level ERP experience strongly recommended; Epicor or Dynamics 365 experience a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Must be able to recognize and be discreet with sensitive business-related materials.
  • Must be able to work with people to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.
  • Must possess technical aptitude, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Work Environment/Conditions 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
  • Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
  • Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.  Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts
