As part of the Safety and Security department of Mercedes-Benz AG, Research & Development, the core tasks of the Standard Security Technologies team is to provide security against cyber attacks. In a cross-sectional function, the team is responsible for the design, implementation and safeguarding of central mechanisms for protecting vehicle architectures against external attacks.

These challenges await you:
Setting up a test environment for onboard car IT security software
Traffic generation for communication-based testing of security software
Review of test specifications
Validation of security test SW vs. test specification
Development of test software in C, C++, Java, CAPL, Python
Documentation
Prototypical implementation of security mechanisms
Working student activity can begin in November 2025.
Studies in the field of computer science or comparable
Very good knowledge of German or English
Extensive knowledge of SW development and experience with SW engineering processes
Very good programming skills (esp. embedded C, C++,Python, CAPL, Java )
Knowledge of embedded systems and automotive electronics, especially vehicle networking (Ethernet, CAN, Flexray, LIN) and automotive standards (AUTOSAR, UDS, etc.) including state-of-the-art development tools (CANoe, DaVinci, etc.)
Knowledge and experience with agile software processes as well as automated software development (CI/CD)
Analytical, strategic and innovative thinking skills
Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills and cooperation in an international working environment
