Ducks Unlimited, the leader in wetland conservation, is currently seeking a full-time Construction Manager to join our Living Lakes Field Office team in Garfield, MN. As a Construction Manager, you will be a part of the planning, drafting, and construction of wetland restoration and enhancement projects throughout Minnesota. This is a unique opportunity to work on a variety of projects that will have a lasting impact on our environment and the communities we serve.
As a member of our team, you will work closely with biologists, engineers, and other conservation partners to deliver high-quality wetland restoration projects. You will perform a full range of surveying, drafting, and construction management functions on wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects. Additionally, you will work closely with local, state, and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners to ensure the success of our projects.

Specific duties include:
- Coordinate with design engineers on project related tasks.
- Conduct field inspection and perform construction management oversight as needed. Field work includes strenuous outdoor activity in difficult environmental conditions. Must be able to or willing to learn to operate and haul ATV and outboard boat when necessary. Overnight travel will be required occasionally, and work may extend outside normal business hours. Working on weekends is NOT a common occurrence.
- Perform topographic surveys and construction staking using GPS survey equipment.
- Ensure that consultants and contractors adhere to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Develop bid documents, pay documents, job reports, and as-built construction plans.
- Represent DU with local, state, and federal personnel, and private landowners, along with other mitigation and conservation partners in a professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
Experience and Education: A four-year technical degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the engineering/construction industry is preferred. Candidates must have experience with Civil3D, land surveying, and construction inspection.
Communication Skills: Demonstrated oral, written, and good communication skills are essential.
Technological Proficiency: Desirable qualifications include experience with surveying (Trimble), AutoCAD Civil3D, erosion control inspection, construction inspection, and project management.
Interpersonal Skills: Must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work with and solve problems in close team-based relationships.
