The family-friendly terrain at Saskadena Six Ski Area sets the tone for a classic winter ski day in the mountains, with gentle terrain perfectly suited for beginners. Saskadena Six welcomes both skiers and snowboarders to its downhill slopes and a terrain park. There are 2 lifts servicing 28 trails ー 30% rated as beginner terrain, 40% as intermediate and 30% as advanced ー with the longest run spanning a distance of 5,280 feet. Rentals, repairs, lessons and a cozy base lodge are all available on-site.
Job Summary:
As a Ski Patrol Hill Chief your responsibilities will encompass emergency medical care, rescue operations, and daily risk management tasks. You will be at the forefront of mountain safety activities, including trail operations, hazard identification, and incident reporting.
Job Specifications:
- Expected Pay Range: starting $23.00 per hour
- The pay scale shown is the range that we reasonably expect to pay. Actual compensation offered may be adjusted based on a candidate’s qualifications and/or experience.
- Shift & Schedule Availability: Full time seasonal positions available
- 20-40 hours per week
- Wednesday – Sunday and must be available to work weekends and holidays
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide professional, friendly and courteous service, including first aid, alpine rescue, and guest services. Assist patrollers when supervisory assistance is needed with guest interactions.
- Be able to coordinate and supervise patrollers in all aspects of patrol duties including prioritizing daily tasks and assignments, events, lift evacuation, and other aspects of the patrol job.
- Effectively communicates pertinent information laterally and horizontally through the chain of command.
- Assists with developing and implementing a yearly training plan for qualified patrollers, junior patrollers, and patrol candidates in accordance with OEC and local standards.
- Overseeing daily operations of the S6 Patrol and ensuring that the department is functioning appropriately in the absence of the Patrol Director.
- Prepare and lead morning meetings, incident and daily debriefings with the Patrol Director.
- Conduct equipment checks and inspection on all patrol and rescue equipment including, but not limited to, lift evacuation ropes and equipment, toboggans, and medical/first aid supplies.
- Assist in developing and updating S6 Patrol protocols and all living documents.
- When needed, work cross-departmentally with other mountain management teams to ensure that daily operational objectives are met.
- Conducts incident investigations for appropriate on-hill/ premises incidents and keeps proper records and documentation.
- Maintaining, organizing, and reviewing documentation associated with daily S6 Patrol operations.
- Adapt to variable weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring safety under all circumstances.
Job Requirements:
- Current EMT or OEC certificate.
- 5+ years of prior patrol experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- National Ski Patrol member in good standing.
- Ability to stay calm and communicate clearly in high stress situations.
- Advanced skier/snowboarder.
- Must be able to lift and ski with 50+ pounds.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Must possess a valid drivers’ license & clean driving record.
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
