SUMMARY
The Commercial HVAC Service Supervisor will provide technical support and leadership on job sites to ensure a skilled and qualified workforce meets customer commitments professionally, with high quality, and on time. Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install HVAC and related equipment as assigned, ensuring timely and high-quality service. Understand client needs and offer the best solutions. Consistently work towards building strong relationships with clients, co-workers, and vendors. As a member of the TCS Leadership Team, conduct oneself with the utmost professionalism, aligning with Total Comfort Solutions' Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a 20/80 split of duties in a typical week, with 20% of time spent in a supervisory capacity and 80% in hands-on field work.
- Assist the Service Manager with supervisory responsibilities, including:
- Conducting Start Up Meetings and Inspections for new contracts.
- Performing Preventative Maintenance Quality Checks to ensure consistency.
- Conducting PARs with technical staff.
- Assisting in Annual Reviews and Development Planning.
- Helping with Vehicle Inspections and Inventorying.
- Carrying out CARE as required.
- Encouraging safe work practices and conducting job site safety audits.
- Participating in weekly Staff Meetings to provide updates on work progress.
- Maintaining strong relationships within the industry and geographic region.
- Assisting in recruiting technical staff.
- Coaching staff to follow company processes.
- Facilitating adherence to customer requirements for new contracts (e.g., permits, safety requirements).
- Conducting on-the-job and other training for technical staff.
- Providing technical support as required.
- Conduct duties of a technician, including:
- Performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting/repairing HVAC equipment in a timely and quality manner.
- Organizing work details and completing accurate work tickets for billing and payroll purposes.
- Submitting additional accurate and complete paperwork, such as Start-up Sheets, New Equipment Change out Sheets, Vehicle Maintenance Logs, and Refrigerant Tracking Logs.
- Promoting new business by reporting leads.
- Building rapport and positive working relationships with clients, vendors, and other outside contacts.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- An associate’s degree in HVAC or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Commitment to maintaining values that align with TCS Values.
- A solid understanding of industry codes and standards.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and safety regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with peers, management, clients, vendors, and the general public.
- Capability to foster a team environment.
- Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in managing others and workload, including handling emergency situations, determining procedures, setting priorities, maintaining standards, and resolving problems.
- Proficiency in comprehending, interpreting, and applying regulations, procedures, and related information.
- Skill in assembling information and creating written reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner.
- Proficiency in utilizing various word processing, recordkeeping, and other relevant software programs.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions vary between that of an office environment and those typical for the field of HVAC which may include exposure to weather conditions and require a high level of physical activity. Job may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
