National Airlines specializes in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements, utilizing 747-400 and A-330 aircraft to accomplish its missions.


Job Title: Director of Human Resources & Talent Acquisition

Location: Orlando, FL

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Vice President of Human Resources

FLSA Status: Exempt


Summary: The Director of HR & Talent will be responsible for the management and strategic development for National Airlines’ compliance with all policies and reporting regulations. Oversee the working knowledge of human resources management principles and practices in all human resource programs. Additionally, this individual will oversee the entire hiring process within the company. The Director of HR & Talent Acquisition reports to the Vice President of Human Resources.


Essential Functions:

Human Resources:

  • Tracks laws and regulations that might affect the organization’s policy and implement necessary changes by interpreting any new regulations and putting them to clear terms for the organization to understand and update employee handbook.
  • Allies with the Human Resources team members to support and promote National’s core values.
  • Oversees the Benefits department and participates in decisions for insurance open enrollment and other employee benefit programs.
  • Liaises with other departmental heads to ensure that all business operations are in line with business policies.
  • Develops, implements, and manages National Airlines compliance programs to ensure that all business units are compliant with policies and reporting regulations, both internal and external
  • Revises procedures, reports, etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
  • Evaluates the efficiency of controls and improves them continuously.
  • Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Oversee primary Designated Employer Representative (DER), ensure compliance FAA/DOT/DOD, support 24/7 environment.
  • Coordinates with Federal and State regulators.
  • Develops and coordinates company reporting channels for compliance. 
  • Plans, implements, and oversees risk related programs.
  • Oversee the coordination and scheduling of required compliance training for employees while working with the Training department as needed.
  • Manages the Talent Acquisition team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Human Resources.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Primarily responsible for creating and implementing hiring strategies.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for the hiring team and provide them with training and guidance as necessary.
  • Approve Personnel Requisitions, tracks vacancies, and new positions
  • Monitors the recruitment process to ensure company is attracts and hires the best talent.
  • Develop strategic hiring plans that align with National core values.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to hiring and employment.
  • Track and analyze key recruitment metrics to evaluate and improve hiring and recruiter performance.
  • Plans, develops, and directs talent acquisition/employment strategies to ensure consistency with the organization’s policies and standards.
  • Works with company leadership to understand current and future workforce needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area required or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • PHR/SPHR certificate preferred
  • Must pass a background check which may include a pre-employment drug test and criminal history records check (CHRC)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience leading Human Resources teams
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of Human Resources concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • A combination of strong recruitment experience, strategic thinking, and ability to have a hands-on role in executing recruitment needs.
  • Strong understanding of full cycle recruiting and employer branding techniques
  • Experience with ATS systems, sourcing and recruitment software
  • Understanding of FAA regulations and DOT Drug and Alcohol Programs Preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, copy machine/printer. 
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work 
  • Light to moderate lifting up to 10 pounds. 

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise (i.e., business offices with computers, phones, printers, and overhead lights). 
  • Ability to work in a confined office or open cubicle environment
