Gunfire Games is seeking an Mid-level Technical Animator with a focus in rigging for our upcoming titles. The Technical Animator will work alongside our design, animation, and art teams to bring environments to life through interactivity and motion. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of rigging principles, Unreal Engine tools, and the ability to contribute to gameplay experiences that feel dynamic and polished. While also having the chance to level up your craft and making an impact on the games we love to create.
What you'll do:
- Rig Characters and Creatures: Build and maintain high-quality rigs in 3ds Max that are animator-friendly and engine-ready.
- Support Weapons and Props: Create rigs for weapons or complex props that require animation control.
- Collaborate with Animators: Partner closely with the animation team to ensure rigs support expressive, believable performance.
- Integrate into Unreal Engine: Export and implement rigs, troubleshoot issues, and support Control Rig setups when needed.
- Polish & Optimize: Ensure rigs are efficient, flexible, and optimized for in-game performance.
Who you are:
- You have 1–3 years of professional or project-based experience rigging characters, creatures, or weapons.· You are confident working in 3ds Max to create skeletons, skin meshes and build rigging controls.
- You understand animation pipelines and how rigs need to function for both animators and the game engine.· You’re comfortable problem-solving technical challenges and collaborating across animation and tech art teams.
- You’re detail-oriented, proactive, and open to feedback, with the ability to grow your skills while contributing to production.
- You have a strong, detailed portfolio or demo reel that showcases your rigging work. *applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
Bonus XP:
- Experience with Unreal Engine pipelines, especially Control Rig.
- A portfolio or demo reel showcasing rigged characters, creatures, or weapons.
- Knowledge of scripting for rigging automation (MaxScript, Python, etc.).
- Experience contributing to an action/adventure or RPG title.

Pay range: $65,000-$80,000. Title level and base pay offered will be based on candidate’s skills, experience, and other professional considerations.
