Join our team as a Water Industry Worker 1 (Labourer/ Hydrant Maintenance)
Play a key role in maintaining Redland City’s water hydrants and wider network operations. You’ll work both independently and alongside a supportive team, ensuring our community has safe, reliable water services while gaining valuable hands-on industry experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out maintenance and repair of water and wastewater networks and assets
Supporting hydrant maintenance and assisting with broader network operations tasks
Operating tools, small plant, and equipment safely and effectively
Maintaining accurate job records in computerised asset management systems
Manage daily work plans, use digital systems (e.g. SCADA, GIS), and maintain accurate records
Following health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
Working collaboratively with your team to complete tasks efficiently
Providing clear, professional customer service to the community and colleagues
Skills and experience:
Experience in water industry, construction, or maintenance work
Ability to perform manual labour, confined space entry, and traffic management
Competence with tools, small plant, and light equipment
Basic skills in job planning, scheduling, and record-keeping
Familiarity with SCADA, telemetry, and GIS systems (or willingness to learn)
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance
