The Opportunity

TECKpert is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support TECKpert’s client, a government agency in Tallahassee, FL. This is an onsite role (no telecommuting) leading multiple, large, cross-functional IT projects of medium to high complexity within State standards. The ideal candidate is a current PMP, skilled in both Agile and Waterfall, comfortable performing oversight project management and, when needed, dual PM/Business Analyst responsibilities, with practical knowledge of Florida Administrative Code and state IT procurement methods.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and proactively update comprehensive project status tracking and executive reporting.
  • Maintain and update project schedules; produce schedule reports; track variances; flag pending milestones and slippage.
  • Perform schedule analysis (validate logic, run what-if scenarios, review critical path); drive recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to collect status, reconcile schedule/budget updates, and resolve conflicts.
  • Build, validate, and maintain cost estimates, baseline budgets, monthly cost variance and forecast reports; reconcile project budgets to approved baselines.
  • Lead risk assessment/mitigation; manage issues/decisions and change control.
  • Support and/or lead Legislative Budget Request (LBR) tasks and related documentation.
  • Perform Business Analysis when needed: requirements elicitation, process/workflow analysis, functional documentation (inputs/outputs), context diagrams, and SDLC deliverables.
  • Conduct QA reviews of project artifacts to ensure standards and completeness.
  • Provide clear, timely stakeholder communications and presentations (large groups included).
  • Prepare and submit required DMS–Florida Digital Service (FLDS).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Term 

This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $145,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Qualifications you need

A successful candidate has the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Communications, or related field.
  • Active PMP (PMI).
  • 6+ years professional experience in Information Systems/Business/Communications.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple large IT projects concurrently in enterprise or public-sector environments.
  • Current with Agile and Waterfall practices; proven oversight project management experience.
  • Proficiency with risk management, resource management, and change management.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • Excellent written/oral communication; ability to brief executives and large audiences.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience compiling Legislative Budget Requests (LBRs).
  • Knowledge of FDOT program management and construction scheduling processes.
  • Working knowledge of Florida state IT procurement methods (RFQ, RFP, ITB, ITN, Single Source).
  • Knowledge of F.A.C. 60GG-1 to 60GG-5 and DMS-FLDS reporting/documentation requirements.
  • Experience in public speaking/training.
