Are you passionate about supporting parents to enhance their parenting skills? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join Communicare’s Parenting Team as a Parenting Facilitator!

The Southeast Metropolitan Parenting Support Service (SEMPSS) is an early-intervention family support program designed for vulnerable families with children between the ages of 0 to 18 years to promote positive parent-child relationships, improved family functioning, parental confidence and connections to community.

The Role:

As a Parenting Facilitator you will deliver quality parenting and family support programs and services through individual and group sessions and education workshops. This role aims to achieve the programs’ goal of improving early childhood developmental outcomes for children and ensure they are supported through life transitions, alongside building strong positive relationships between families, children and the community. As part of an integrated team, the Parenting Facilitator will aim to enhance parenting skills, knowledge and confidence of participants. The Facilitator will be based out of our Armadale office, with the position offered on a permanent part time basis, working 45.6 hours a fortnight.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver individual parenting and family information, support and referrals for parents and carers.

  • Deliver evidence-based parenting education programs and group development sessions.

  • Assist with monitoring and evaluating service delivery, ensuring that quality outcomes are achieved.

  • Research and develop evidence-informed resources and materials that support quality outcomes and results for parents/carers and their children.

  • Report on the parenting service activities and outcomes

 

About You

You are a passionate program facilitator, keen to make a lasting impact on the community by promoting parenting services, providing support for parents and carers. You have experience in providing solution focused, positive parenting supports to families including the targeted client groups of Aboriginal families, CaLD families, young parents and fathers.

 

In addition to the above you must have:

  • Tertiary qualification in family studies, child development or have 3+years relevant experience in a similar field.

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering group and community education with the ability to establish community networks by building and maintaining relationships.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Certification/Accreditation to deliver one or more of the following parenting programs: Circle of Security, 123 Magic and Emotion Coaching, Bringing Up Great Kids, Tuning in to Kids/Teens, Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting (desirable).

  • National Police Clearance, Valid drivers’ licence, Working With Children Check.
