Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading edge-semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up an Engineering center in Bangalore to expand its reach to Indian talent pool. Over two decades, this center has expanded its capability and scope beyond Engineering and is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGO (Lam India Global Operations). Within LIGO, manufacturing engineering, cost performance engineering, supply chain and logistics, spares operations and planning, order fulfilment, inventory management, and supplier QA engineering functions work collaboratively to deliver best in class solutions for Lam’s global operations.
Lam India has an opening for the role of a Manufacturing Engineer within LIGO Manufacturing Engineering. This position will be based out of Bangalore, directly reporting into the leader of LIGO Manufacturing Engineering team and closely working with Global Manufacturing sites.
The impact you’ll make
Join Lam as a Manufacturing Engineer where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the new product pilot production factory, virtual manufacturing, or high-volume manufacturing production factory. Using your knowledge of technology and engineering principles you will oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations. You'll tackle technical, quality, and production challenges. Your expertise optimizing manufacturing costs and standards helps shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing.
In this role, LIGO Manufacturing Engineers work collaboratively with build factories across geographies to design and develop fixtures, ensure build readiness, and resolve assembly issues. We are in constant pursuit of manufacturing excellence through continuous improvements and innovations.
What you’ll do
Your typical day:
- Design, develop, and implement safe and cost-effective simple fixtures and methods of assembly for all phases of manufacturing
- Perform virtual build of sub-assemblies/assemblies and define sequence of operations for Pilot builds
- Define process and methods for high volume manufacturing which includes operations method sheet, routing, and sequencing
- Interface with manufacturing teams from Global Factory network to address issues pertaining to assembly sequence, fixtures, and product design
- Participate actively in Idea generation forums and contribute to process improvement initiatives
- Understand Lam products and its manufacturing process
Who we’re looking for
You are:
- A B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering with minimum 65% aggregate
- Graduating in 2025 without any backlogs
Preferred qualifications
You need to know:
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and methods
- Application of Manufacturing Technology, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines to address manufacturing challenges
- Knowledge of machining, welding, molding, sheet-metal fabrication & casting processes
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly with approach to structured problem solving and decision-making
- Fundamental data analytics and statistical skills
Nice to know:
- Hands-on projects that include prototyping and assembly
- Advanced manufacturing methods – Additive Manufacturing and 3D printing, Water jet machining, Ceramic manufacturing
- Experience with 3D Modelling, Assembly using any CAD package
- Use of simulation tools such as Ansys, Nastran, Creo Simulate etc
- Internship in manufacturing/assembly set-up

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
