For more than 30 years, BGCLC has served the youth in Larimer County. The BGCLC centers are a place for kids to laugh, learn, grow and belong. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. The BGCLC does this by providing spaces around Larimer County for youth to go to before and after school, here children can participate in numerous activities that encourage them to plan for the future, demonstrate good character, and lead healthy lifestyles.


BGCLC is looking for a passionate, fun-loving, energetic individual to help foster a fun, safe, and positive after-school experience for youth in Wellington, CO.


As a Club Director you will:

  • Always ensure the physical and emotional health and safety of Club members.
  • Establish a program culture consistent with the 5 key elements for positive youth development: fun, safe and positive environment, recognition, supportive relationships, opportunities, and expectations.
  • Provide guidance and act as a positive role model/mentor to assure the conduct, safety, and development of all members.
  • Participate in regular program meetings, staff meetings, and trainings.
  • Help maintain facilities and equipment to ensure a productive and clean work environment.
  • Maintain professional daily contact with all staff members, supervisor, volunteers, and school administration to communicate Club operations and the needs of members.
  • Adhere to all BGCLC policies and procedures.

Programming and Club Experience:

  • Supervise overall Club operations, ensuring the health and safety of all members, volunteers, parents, and staff.
  • Ensure that safety protocols are always implemented in every program space.
  • Lead and instruct staff members to host special Club events, family nights, educational events, etc.
  • Strategically plan programs that enhance program quality
  • Review and approve all program plans and schedules.
  • Participate in program evaluations and assessments.
  • Be aware of BGCA incentives and programs, implement into daily Club programming as applicable.
  • Establish strong and professional relationships with families and youth.
  • Create member behavior and safety plans as needed.
  • Serve as a primary contact person for all Club parents.
  • Assist with food service in the Club, following all Food Bank/Health Dept. safe food handling protocols.

Full-Day Programs:

  • Schedule regular meetings with Club Director I staff for full-day programs.
  • Consult with other Club locations to determine expected attendance numbers.
  • Manage the registration rosters for consolidated summer sites.
  • Coordinate the planning of school out day programs/activities.
  • Coordinate staff schedules with consolidating BGCLC sites.
  • Consults and educates staff about youth with safety or success plans
  • Ensure Clubs are in licensing compliance when consolidating youth from other Clubs. (ie, staffing ratios, staff qualifications, etc.)
  • Ensure meals/snacks are provided (Licensed School Age locations).

Facility/Property Management

  • Manage the keys and FOB access for all necessary employees, partners, and community members.
  • Ensure the collection and management of Facility Usage Agreements for all external partners.
  • Report all maintenance needs to the Operations department staff.
  • Assist with scheduling all maintenance bids and repair work.
  • Be onsite for scheduled maintenance and repair work, also collecting photos and documentation of repair work.
  • Participate in quarterly facility maintenance walkthroughs and ensure all designated tasks are completed. (i.e., cleaning, organizing, repairs, etc.)
  • Manage and maintain any onsite BGCLC fleet vehicles.
  • Ensure all BGCLC fleet vehicles are only driven by employees who have completed the required BGCLC training.

Administrative:

  • Oversee the Club's administrative functions, i.e. membership enrollment for assigned schools, data collection, program attendance, etc.
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork and training is completed for all new employees and volunteers.
  • Complete regular audits of member tracking systems. Assist with annual reports.
  • Attend and assist with organizational-wide staff meetings and trainings.

Community Outreach:

  • Regularly meet with local school principals and support staff.
  • Participate in youth committees and/or coalitions.
  • Attend BGCLC fundraising events as needed.
  • Attend other community events and meetings as needed.
  • Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services, and activities within your designated schools

Leadership and Staff Development:

  • Oversee a team of staff members within the Club site.
  • Manage and provide career development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Organize regular scheduled meetings with staff members and volunteers.
  • Ensure that reviews and coaching occur on a consistent and timely basis with all program staff.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support Summer/School Day out programs at another Club location.
  • May implement and oversee other unit activities or special programs/events, as necessary.
  • May be required to drive Club vehicle. Must have valid, active and current license.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned


This is a full-time, exempt position with a pay range of $60k-65k.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree with a major such as recreation, outdoor ed, education, elementary or ECE, or a subject in the human services field.

  • Or a combination of the following:

Must be at least 21 and be able to verify education or work with school-age kids in recreation, education, scouting, or 4-H, and have one of the following:

  • Two years of college and 910 hours of verifiable paid or volunteer experience with 4 or more school-aged youth (since the age of 18)
  • 5460 hours of verifiable paid or volunteer experience with 4 or more school aged youth and one of the following:
    • Six semester hours from an accredited college or university
    • 40hrs of training in course work related to children in a department approved courses in
      • Injury prevention
      • Playground safety, within the first 9 months of employment.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, people and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have the ability to mentor and grow staff.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage youth behaviors.
  • Ability to communicate and foster relationships with parents and community members.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Candidates must be able to criminal and driving records investigations, and reference checks.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly recommended.

Supervisory Expectations:

  • Directly supervises one or more employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Independence of Action:

  • Results are defined, and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods and carry out work activities independently; the supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems.
