Position Summary:
The Pipe & Fabrication Manager is responsible for day-to-day management and execution of the warehouse pipe & fabrication operations and associated processes/procedures. This position effectively manages, leads, trains, and continually develops the pipe and fabrication team, ensuring operational goals are met while maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and safety. This role is accountable for workforce planning, performance management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Pipe & Fabrication Manager collaborates closely with other departments, including Operations, Sales, and Purchasing, to ensure seamless workflow and superior customer service. The Pipe & Fabrication Manager provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and demonstrates strict confidentiality with all team members while serving as an ambassador of our culture.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage pipe and fabrication teams, ensuring workers complete tasks efficiently, accurately, and on time.
  • Delegate workforce responsibilities and be accountable for the execution of plans set forth by the Operations Manager.
  • Record daily attendance and ensure team members comply with proper PPE requirements.
  • Assist team members with daily problem resolution.
  • Train staff in proper pipe and fabrication procedures.
  • Oversee unloading of pipe trucks and accurate receipt of linear merchandise, matching bills of lading to purchase orders.
  • Prepare routine reports related to linear product as needed.
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, overhead crane, fabrication equipment, forklift, or shrink wrap machine as required.
  • Exemplify dedication to customer satisfaction delivering a superior experience.
  • Foster continuous improvement and innovation within the department.

  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and continuous quality improvement objectives.
  • Adhere to all Company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively build rapport with both internal and external customers.
  • Positive attitude and ability to function independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively.
  • Must be able to communicate in English regarding the position's essential functions.

Required Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience in pipe and fabrication operations within the PVF wholesale distribution.
  • Prior operations or management experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 50 lbs.
  • Requires visual, hearing, and speech acuity.
  • Requires the ability to stand and walk long distances for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, elements, noise, and fumes.
