About the Department

Employee is responsible for providing customer service to patrons and renters of the Paramount Theatre, as well as administrative support to staff of Paramount Theatre and City of Goldsboro.
    
  An employee in this position will be the primary box office coordinator and interface for patrons by telephone, online, and at the ticket window. They will provide exemplary customer service for all visitors and guests to the Paramount Theatre, and administrative support to Paramount Theatre Director and Service Manager, while maintaining accounts payable, payroll, cash drawers and deposits, concessions inventory, and front of house appearance. Will coordinate and train part-time Building Attendants and provide marketing and promotional assistance as needed. Work is performed under the supervision of Paramount Theatre Director and Service Manager; evaluation is through direct observation, discussion, and customer feedback. Position is primarily daytime but requires a flexible schedule that may include some nights and weekends. 

Position Duties

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Serve as primary point of contact for ticket sales at venue ticket window, by telephone and through online ticket system.
  • Greet and assist customers in the lobby and at the ticket window, providing seating recommendations using the venue’s seating map.
  • Take customers' information, perform data entry into the system while operating on-line ticket system.
  • Print tickets and ensure that date, time and seat numbers are accurately displayed according to event.
  • Provide patrons with information on chosen shows as well as upcoming events of interest.
  • Handle daily cash reconciliation, prepare box office reports, and ensure accurate financial balancing at end of shift.
  • Process ticketing reports, check requests, invoice payments, and procurement card reports for the Paramount.
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll for the Paramount, maintaining accurate records and distributing required forms to the Finance Department.
  • Support marketing efforts, including updating website event information.
  • Track concessions inventory and maintain organization of concessions storage.
  • Maintain front-of-house organization and ensure adequate lobby and supply stock.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.
  • General knowledge of accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of or ability to pick up basics of online box office system.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and social media apps.
  • Good organization skills.  

Other Qualifications

  • High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of administrative support experience or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must be computer literate with advanced skills in MS Word, Excel applications and Social Media.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. 

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
