Salary: Circa £37,000 – £42,000 per annum (depending on experience) 

Job Type: Full-Time, 37.5 hours, Permanent  

Location: IB (International Baccalaureate®) Global Centre, Cardiff

About the job

The IB is undergoing an exciting transformation in how it delivers technology, driven by a new operating model. At the heart of this change is the UX Design department, which plays a critical role in shaping exceptional customer experiences across our digital products, designing complex products and services, both in-house and in partnerships with the broader IB ecosystem.

This team is passionate about understanding user needs and improving business processes to unlock new technology capabilities and deliver meaningful efficiencies. By centralising and standardising UX capabilities across the IB Offices, the department ensures consistency and excellence in user experience design.

As part of this team, you’ll report directly to the Head of UX, who leads the IB’s strategic direction on all UX topics and is responsible for establishing and growing this department. 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver simple, accessible and scalable experiences for our students, teachers and schools 

  • Define and develop design principles and contribute to the continuous improvement of the IB’s Design System to ensure high-quality user experiences. 

  • Lead UX research and analysis, gathering and applying user insights to inform design decisions. 

  • Promote innovation by tracking industry trends and advocating best practices in UX and service design. 

  • Champion accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring products serve diverse users globally. 

  • Communicate design concepts clearly, producing wireframes, prototypes, and service blueprints to visualize processes and support stakeholder engagement. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business owners, product managers, and engineering teams to drive user-centered solutions and process improvements. 

  • Organize and facilitate design reviews and workshops, incorporating stakeholder feedback to refine and enhance user experiences. 

  • Foster a collaborative team culture, sharing knowledge and contributing to the departmental strategy and digital transformation at IB. 

Qualifications

About You

  • Cultural awareness, respect, and a global perspective 

  • Strong IT and data skills 

  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication abilities 

  • High proficiency in written and spoken English 

  • Experience in UX and UI design, prototyping, and using tools like Figma 

  • Cross-functional collaboration with diverse teams 

  • Basic understanding of the edtech landscape 

  • Experience with SaaS and consumer products (desirable) 

  • Knowledge of software development processes and Agile methodologies (Scrum preferred) 

  • Competence in problem-solving, empathy, and stakeholder engagement 

  • Confidence in decision-making and team motivation 

  • Passion for technology and digital product creation 

  • Salesforce or CRM experience, IB knowledge, and proficiency in Spanish and/or French are desirable but not required
