Position Purpose:
The Kitchen Cashier plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive dining experience for students and guests by efficiently processing transactions, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a well-organized and clean checkout area. The cashier supports the dynamic needs of a college environment, contributing to a welcoming and efficient dining experience.
Essential Duties:
- Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner, creating a positive atmosphere for students, faculty, and guests.
- Process customer payments accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system, ensuring quick and smooth transactions during busy periods.
- Accept various payment methods, including cash, credit/debit cards, meal plan scans, mobile payments, and coupons, accommodating the diverse needs of a college community.
- Assist customers with questions regarding menu items, including allergen information, and provide recommendations to enhance their dining experience.
- Stay informed about the menu, ingredients, and daily specials, promoting items to customers.
- Calculate and provide accurate change to customers, ensuring trust and reliability in handling financial transactions.
- Ensure the cash register is balanced at the end of the shift, maintaining accurate financial records.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, contributing to a pleasant and efficient dining environment.
- Assist in maintaining the overall cleanliness of the front of the kitchen, ensuring a hygienic and inviting space for customers.
- Restock merchandisers with drinks and food, ensuring popular items are always available for purchase.
- Monitor and maintain inventory stock for the front of the house, ensuring it is adequately stocked and follows First-In-First-Out (FIFO) practices to minimize waste.
- Follow company policies and procedures related to cash handling, customer service, and food safety, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Adhere to hygiene and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment, prioritizing the health and safety of students and staff.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to ensure a seamless operation, addressing any issues that arise promptly and effectively.
- Provide exceptional customer service, building rapport with regular customers and contributing to a welcoming college dining experience.
- Support special events and catering needs as required, assisting with setup, service, and cleanup to ensure successful events.
- Work extended hours during conferences and special events, demonstrating flexibility and dedication to meet the increased demands.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on procedures and enhance skills relevant to the role.
- Contribute to a team-oriented environment, supporting colleagues and fostering a cooperative spirit in the kitchen.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in processing payments accurately, making changes, and balancing the cash register at the end of the shift.
- Must be able to operate a Windows-based computer.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and handle a fast-paced environment, especially during peak dining hours.
- Effective problem-solving skills to address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn, adapting to the dynamic needs of a college environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift moderate weights if required.
- Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with customers and kitchen staff, ensuring clear and efficient communication.
- Reliability and punctuality, ensuring consistent presence for scheduled shifts, and contributing to a dependable dining service team.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during conferences and special events, demonstrating a commitment to meeting the needs of the college community.
Requirements:
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must sign the Statement of Faith.
- A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
- Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred.
- Must pass all required checks.
Experience:
- Previous cashier experience is preferred, particularly in a college or high-traffic environment.
- Compensation is commensurate with experience.
