This is a day rate contract vacancy for 6 months - Inside IR35


 

We are currently planning the implementation of new Business to Business and Business to Consumer solutions in our Savings and Retirement business. These will provide clients the capability to generate reinsurance price quotations on a self-service basis.
 

Given the significant benefits to having technology enabled propositions as a business, efforts are currently underway to replace and upgrade manual and legacy platforms to accommodate multiple clients on a secure and scalable platforms.
 

We are therefore seeking a highly capable Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee the successful technical implementation of the Technology Projects within the PL Re organisation.
 

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong background in project management, along with a deep understanding of the how to manage 3rd party providers, having proven and demonstrable experience of implementing and rolling out new platforms. You will have a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget, ensuring planning, management, oversight and communications are in line with PL Re’s expectations.
 

You will work alongside our broad and multi-location Business and Technology Delivery teams including Savings and Retirement, Platforms, Infrastructure, Data, Enterprise Architecture and E-ISO and where appropriate Actuarial Systems, Finance, Operations, Pricing and other teams to develop, align and manage the project plan and timelines.
 

Key Duties

  • Responsible for the successful end-to-end management of the implementation across the organisation.

  • Ensure the delivery of a high-quality solution that meets the PL Re requirements and ensures a smooth experience for the internal business, external client and technology teams.

  • Partner with project sponsors & stakeholders to define project scope, priorities, timelines, milestones, deadlines, plans, RAID, resource plans and deliverable schedules.

  • Working with Change and Incident management teams across the organisation to ensure alignment and on time delivery to objectives.

  • Anticipate issues and delays to the project and evaluate trade-offs between project size, complexity, cost, risk, etc., effectively assessing and mitigating all project risks.

  • Work with various teams to develop activities and assign to resources, supervise work and ensure adherence to established quality and risk management standards and methodologies. Escalating issues as appropriate along with proposals for resolution.

  • Facilitate discussions and consensus among various project stakeholders, including the facilitation of the Project Steering Committee.

  • Coordinating work within the team. Eliciting clear progress updates with transparency and realism regarding risks and issues. Monitoring and reporting on project status.

  • Manages and monitors the project budget and expenditures.

  • Ensures the project adheres to the business’ standards for project methodology, governance, reporting and risk management.


 

Qualifications, Expertise and Attributes

  • Essential experience and proven track record of previous end-to-end project implementations in a complex, large-scale environment that involves multiple senior internal and external stakeholders using appropriate methodologies and toolsets. Proven and demonstrable experience as a Senior Project Manager in complex IT Service Management / Technology environments.

  • Experience working in a regulated industry is highly desirable.

  • Comfortable working in Waterfall, Agile & Hybrid styles, demonstrating an ability to select the best approaches for the tasks and challenges at hand.

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle.

  • Data & analytical expertise, ability to elicit and agree requirements across a broad a diverse group of stakeholders.

  • Expert planning, control and monitoring skills.

  • Solid understanding of the importance of and adherence to Technology Risk Management standards and security.

  • Proven communication skills with the gravitas to interact at Executive and Senior Leadership levels.

  • Significant experience in people management and matrix team leadership.

  • Extensive experience managing and partnering with multiple 3rd party vendors.

  • Strong understanding of project and programme methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, APM).

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent relevant industry experience.

  • Project and Programme Management experience of at least 10 years.

  • Knowledge and experience of using PPM solutions, Jira / Atlassian & MS 365 an advantage.
