Position Summary
The Inventory and Logistics Supervisor is located in Troy, OH. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inventory and Logistics Supervisor to oversee all aspects of inventory management and the Shipping and Receiving operation. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate inventory control, timely shipments and deliveries, and smooth coordination between warehouse, procurement, and transportation functions. The position supervises the team of employees who handle the packing, loading, unloading, and shipment of goods to and from the facility.
- Required Experience:
- 3-5 years of Transportation/ Logistics experience and Supervisory experience
- Proven experience in Transportation/ Logistics
- Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with people of various educational and technical backgrounds, both inside and outside the company.
- Frequent contact with manufacturing leaders, members of productions planning/ inventory control, supply chain, customer service team, sales team, and other Managers within MACtac.
- Interaction with carriers, custom brokers, customers, and vendors.
- Working knowledge of ERP software programs and 3rd party freight billing.
- Experience with International Shipping.
- Ability to interface with other departments, suppliers, carriers, and customers.
- The ability to negotiate and effectively administer business strategies.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Must have knowledge and exposer to multiple modes of transportation: LTL, TL, IM, Parcel.
- Must be a Team Player.
- Education:
- High School Diploma/HSE/GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Business or equivalent work experience may be considered
Duties & Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Monitor, analyze, and maintain inventory levels to ensure accuracy and availability.
- Manage and perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventories on an established frequency.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Implement best practices and process improvements to reduce costs, avoid obsolescence, and prevent overstocking.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of goods, including compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Serve as the main point of contact for our 3rd party warehouse (Waco).
- Coordinates, communicates, and records information on product movement. Tracks the non-active inventory in the plant, develop action items and lead the efforts to complete.
- Work in conjunction with the Inventory Analyst, Finishing Scheduler, Shipping team, and Quality teams to manage returned material and ensure its resolution in a timely manner.
Logistics & Transportation:
- Oversee shipping documentation, customs compliance (if applicable), and freight claims.
- Works with manufacturing teams and the Associate Logistics Manager (ALM) to continuously identify opportunities to minimize freight expense through optimization and planning/preplanning.
- Monitors and analyzes fill rate efficiencies such as products picked, packed, shipped, and meeting the ship date. Initiates corrections in cooperation with and/or at the direction of the Department Manager and technical support personnel.
Team Supervision:
- Collaborates with operations and scheduling to review production schedules to ensure shipments remain on time and are prioritized to maximize productivity, meet fill-rate goals, and provide good customer service.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of trucks and check that they are all properly secured. Including inspecting shipment contents for damage, shortages, and overages.
- Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Carries out management responsibilities with adherence to company policies, work rules, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include overseeing training requirements; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance when applicable; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; leading employee engagement activities and volunteerism; and ensuring timecards are accurate and approved on a timely basis.
- Supports facility by ensuring Shipping and Receiving department is properly staffed with qualified employees, including administration of time off (Vacation) and schedules to appropriate staffing requirements. Responsible for department timecards and ensuring they are up to date and accurate daily.
- Focus on employee development by conducting training sessions (safety, SOPs, housekeeping). Coaches Shipping and Receiving issues and problems by troubleshooting the process to develop employees to be self-sufficient and part of the decision-making processes.
- Establishes a strong presence on the floor to set and communicate expectations, standards, and evaluate results so all employees understand expectations. Handle administrative duties for the Inventory, Shipping & Receiving teams.
- Ensure that all employees adhere to work rules and safety policies. Apply all safety regulations that meet OSHA and Mactac safety guidelines. Conducts incident investigations and ensures housekeeping standards are maintained.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Responsible for reporting daily shift performance to the appropriate Dept. Manager against established KPI's for items such as safety, quality, productivity, service, employee feedback, machinery, process, and facility issues.
- Responsible for department projects to ensure overall effectiveness and successful implementation.
- Serve as a technical resource to help formulate, monitor, and enforce goals of the area. This includes providing performance feedback, SOP implementation, problem solving and ensuring an atmosphere that fosters continuous improvement in a team environment.
- Maintain records of all incoming and outgoing shipments and create reports as needed.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.

- Physical Requirements:
- The person in this position normally works in a manufacturing environment with a significant amount of time spent in the manufacturing facility. Hearing, eye and foot protection are mandatory in the manufacturing area.
- An employee in this position is required to walk, stand and sit in an office environment. Must be able to utilize a computer and necessary accessories with computer and phone.
