As a member of Greater Springfield Senior Service Inc.'s State Home Care Team, the Nursing Manager is responsible for the administrative, technical and clinical casework supervision of the State Home Care Nursing program. The Nursing Manager provides oversight of GSSSI's State Home Care Registered Nurses and Clinical Assessment and Eligibility (CAE) Registered Nurses to ensure the delivery of care coordination in compliance of Massachusetts professional nursing standards and regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Aging and Independence (AGE).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer the ASAP/SHC Nursing Programs as defined by GSSSI and The Executive Office of Aging & Independence (AGE) policies and regulations.
- Oversee the system of referral and coordination of health and home care services.
- Provide guidance to staff on issues related to AGE Program services.
- Implement quality assurance measures to evaluate the integrity of the department's practices including a system for ongoing record and performance reviews.
- Submit required monthly statistical reports to the State Home Care Program Director and the Client Services Director.
- Provide day-to-day supervision of assigned staff within SHC/CAE Programs.
- Conduct monthly team meetings.
- Carry out weekly one-on-one supervision with each member of the Nursing Manager's team.
- Direct ongoing training and development of AGE Assessments, screenings and care plans to SHC/CAE team members.
- Function as the primary liaison with the medical community and home health agencies including participating in outreach marketing with health providers, hospitals, nursing homes, and rest homes.
- Participate in coordinating appropriate medical in-services for agency staff.
- Provide coverage for team/department, including conducting home visits/assessments as needed to ensure regulatory/contractual compliance in the absence of team members.
- Represent the agency within the community and the service system.
- Advocate and act as a resource in areas of interest and/or concern for elders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Human Services.
- License to practice as a registered nurse.
- Minimum of three years clinical experience, one of which must have been in community nursing.
- Supervisory experience required.
