The purpose of a Lead Painter is to provide industrial painting services with specific responsibility to provide training, support, and work direction to assigned staff; prepare, paint, and/or stain a variety of surfaces; ensure compliance with accessibility and health and safety codes; provide information on the proper techniques and use of equipment; ensure completion of projects in accordance with trade standards; assist other skilled trades; and ensure that tools and materials are available at job site. Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in the painting trade and four years of experience performing journey-level painting.

CERTIFICATES: Valid California Driver's License PROMOTIONAL TESTING – Open to permanent employees of the District and former VUSD employees on the re-employment list only. Resulting in one (1) Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year or until the list becomes exhausted. Current permanent employees of the District will be awarded seniority points as per the contract. All properly completed applications will be reviewed and the most highly qualified individuals will be invited to continue in the selection process. The process may consist of an evaluation and scoring of application materials, written testing, oral interview and/or performance test to evaluate the applicant’s skill, training and experience. Hiring Range 59 - $30.37 - $33.52/hour. Advance step placement, up to step 3, may be considered on verifiable prior experience. Current employees promotional rules apply.
