What you will do:
- Create and deliver external communications that help to tell Metro Bank’s story, promoting key focus areas of the Group’s strategy.
- Build and grow relationships with external stakeholders, driving engagement and awareness of Metro Bank in UK media and government.
- Advise internal stakeholders, including senior leaders and spokespeople, working with a range of business functions across the bank.
- Support corporate communications activity during financial reporting (e.g. Financial Results, AGM and Annual Report).
- Positively represent Metro Bank through Press Office activity, responding to media and MP enquiries.
- Manage and mitigate reputation risks: horizon scan for emerging trends and respond to issues.
- Lead evaluation and analysis, using data and insights to measure success.
- Drive the external calendar, planning and managing content.
- Oversee a Communications Associate and manage external agencies and suppliers.
- Collaborate with Internal Communications and Brand & Marketing on campaigns, reaching multiple audiences across a range of communication channels.

What you will need:
- A strategic mindset as an experienced communications manager.
- You’ll be proactive and forward-looking, with a passion for delivering great results.
- Storytelling expertise, proficient at leading PR campaigns and Press Office activity.
- Strong interpersonal skills- a great collaborator who can build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience managing reputation risk and crisis communications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Awareness of integrated communications and audience reach through traditional and digital channels.
- Familiarity with UK media, government advocacy and policy landscape.
- Knowledge of financial services or experience gained in a regulated industry.
- Experience working in-house / agency communications / journalism/ public affairs.
- Examples of previous PR / Communications campaign delivery.
