Are you ready to play a key role in supporting the operations of a renowned aircraft manufacturer? As a Buyer at Britten-Norman, you’ll be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and expediting materials, parts, and services essential to the delivery of our aircraft projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify suppliers, raise supplier Request for Quotations (RFQs) and negotiate the most effective output to serve the needs of the business.
- Raising Request for Quotes (RFQs) and Purchase Orders (POs) to meet requirements.
- Seek alternative routes to supply to achieve project deliverables and budget.
- Close down old / redundant RFQ / P. O’s (where applicable).
- Update the PO Tracker.
- Update Aerotrac accordingly.
- Negotiate best prices for orders.
- Administer the creation of New Supplier Requests.
- Carry out collection or shipping requests, as required by the company.
- Liaise with the Finance Department and / or Suppliers in relation to all Invoice Queries.
- Provide reporting to the business on the status of procurement activities.
- Attend relevant internal meetings
- Highlight risks, issues and delays.
- Manage zero stock-outs for fast moving/consumable items.
- Become an Aerotrac (database) super user.
- Advising Project Managers and Delivery teams on the status of projects.
- Update / feed into project risk registers.
- Provide reports to the Delivery Teams on project costs.
- Providing costings to the Project Managers, Delivery, Business and Commercial teams to inform bids, budgets and post cost analysis.
- Report any export / import concerns / issues to the finance department and line manager.
- Assist the Head of Procurement and or departmental heads in seeking new ways to source, procure and manufacture components with support from the technical team to take Britten-Norman forward into a new era of innovation.
- Import/Export and ITAR
- Manage temporary imports of aircraft and aircraft components in the MRO environment.
- Ensure any ITAR qualifying items are managed correctly.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous experience is a similar role (5 years plus)
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Effective communication and influencing skills up to a
senior level. - Microsoft Excel knowledge.
- Confident decision maker.
- Proactive with strong attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills .
- Experience in sourcing nationally and internationally.
- Experience in Procurement databases.
