POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for writing the programs for the machining of thermoplastics and metals.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Create programs for several CNC machines.
• Update and maintain all CAM programs.
• Address questions from Machinists.
• Analyze work orders and blueprints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required.
• Requisition custom tooling, fixtures, and material.
• Work in accordance with other departments (machining, cut bay, etc) to optimize yields with material blanks and nest more parts onto larger material sizes.
• Maintain standards to ensure parts are up to customer quality and specification. Work to reduce non-conforming reports.
• Achieve or improve upon machine run time as listed on production orders.
• Recommend measures to improve programming methods, program performance, and quality of product.
• Strive to reduce inaccurate programs and late introduction of programs to the manufacturing floor.
• Prepare program solutions for the minimization of part overruns, eliminating them whenever possible or as directed by management.
• Maintain full working knowledge of all processes.
• Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
• Operate machines when applicable or based on workload.
• Report immediately to supervisor/lead/manager any and all problems, which may affect safety, equipment, tooling, and/or quality.
• Adhere to all company standards and policies.
• Conduct himself/herself in a professional matter in accordance with company guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose operations problems/issues.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and the capacity to learn new systems.
• Proficient with ERP system.
• Skill in performing accurate arithmetic functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; using decimals, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
• Comprehensive understanding of SolidWorks and complete blueprint reading skills with specific knowledge regarding material properties as it relates to machining operations.
• Full understanding of all tools, gages, and other equipment used to inspect production parts.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Tenacity in overcoming obstacles while maintaining productive and positive working relationships.
• Ability to execute in a rapidly changing fast paced environment that requires strong team work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification.
• At least 2 years of experience with MasterCam.
Preferred:
• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and ISO 9000.

The employee may be required to work with hazardous materials. The employee may be exposed to hot surfaces, hot air, electrical hazards, and flames. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works with moving machinery and occasionally in outside weather.
