Job Purpose:
The FFT Therapist is responsible for providing clinical family therapy to foster youth and their families, using evidence-based interventions through the FFT FC model. In collaboration with the FFT Family Specialist and DCF, the therapist ensures stability in foster placements and actively works toward achieving permanency for children in care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Assessments: Conduct comprehensive initial assessments, identifying key family participants, protective and risk factors, and developing relational analyses to guide treatment.
- Family Therapy Sessions: Provide ongoing family therapy, at least once a week, adjusting the frequency based on the clinical needs of the youth and family.
- Model-Adherent Interventions: Address clinical needs through interventions aligned with the FFT FC model, supporting the youth and family’s long-term stability.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Care4 and other required electronic health record systems, including crisis management plans, safety planning, and session summaries.
- Engagement Monitoring: Continuously assess engagement levels of family members and collaborate with the supervisor and other stakeholders to overcome barriers to participation.
- Risk Assessments and Safety Planning: Conduct model-specific and foster care-adherent risk assessments for each family, developing tailored safety plans and interventions to reduce risks and strengthen protective factors.
- Stakeholder Communication: Keep all relevant parties informed of elevated risks and attend family court appearances and Administrative Case Reviews.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related Behavioral Health field.
- Licensure: in the therapist’s field of study (LMFT, LPCA, LCSW, LMSW).
- Experience: Experience in home-based therapy, family systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for regional and statewide travel.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) are encouraged to apply.
