The Louisiana State Museum’s collections and educational programs stimulate awareness and appreciation of our state’s rich and diverse history and culture.
Position Duties
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the carpentry trade.

Other Qualifications
Job Duties:
• Will be responsible for the repair and/or installation of locks, windows, and door glass and other security-oriented devices.
• Use table saw, power saw, joiner, wood lathes, planners, drills, sanders, and other carpentry equipment and tools. Maintain same to include clean, sharpen, repairs, and other general maintenance as required.
• Fit, cut, and finishes sheetrock; installs, fits, and cut paneling, plywood, frames, blinds, shutters, and miscellaneous wallcoverings.
• Acts as lead worker to other trades involved in complex construction jobs such as museum exhibit installation.
• Performs other related work as assignedPosition-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This is a full-time, probational appointment; current classified permanent State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.
Work Schedule: This position requires a 40-hour workweek; travel and overtime may be required.
Location: State Museum, New Orleans, LA
