Ambulatory HLD Reprocessing Technician
SUMMARY
Performs duties and troubleshoot in all areas of high level disinfectant (HLD) and sterile processing.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Sorts, disassembles, decontaminates, rinses and disinfects a variety of instrumentation, equipment and flexible scopes.
Assembles, protects and wraps and/or peel packs and labels instruments for use.
Labels instruments for use in the clinic.
Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
Selects appropriate sterilization method.
Complies with manufactures recommendations and departmental guidelines.
EDUCATION
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Two years of experience performing sterile processing and high-level disinfection in ambulatory surgery, procedure, or hospital environment.
No experience with preferred education.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required:
One of the following:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
