The impact you’ll make
Deliver advanced technology lab and manufacturing space for product expansion. Oversee the successful construction completion on projects in excess of $100M to ensure budget and schedule adherence. Create innovative and value engineered solutions for construction challenges.
As a Facilities Engineer at Lam, with your project management expertise, you’ll plan and oversee facility changes for plant, tool installations, and production equipment layouts. You'll work with architects to develop design criteria, layouts, and prepare contracts. You inspect construction and installation progress to ensure adherence with established specifications and schedules. Your focus on performance specifications required to meet unique operating conditions contributes to the efficiency and compliance of Lam's state of the art facilities.
What you’ll do
Lead a team in the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale strategic capital projects surrounding technical lab construction. This role requires expertise in managing complex infrastructure and facilities projects, ensuring project performance to corporate standards, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder expectations.
Drive all aspects of construction projects: scope, schedule, spend forecasts, proposal requests, procurement, quality, communications, permits, changes orders, and close-out for large, advanced technology manufacturing projects. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Select and evaluate third party contractors in developing design and performance criteria, layouts, and schematic drawings, including safety oversight and environmental design specifications. Ensure best cost and performance. Control change orders, schedules, budget, and project handover. Work with procurement and legal teams to maximize value and minimize risk.
Review design and construction costs surrounding all equipment, installation, and materials. Track and report on project budgets.
Build and execute against programming and construction documents, to ensure successful delivery of Lam business requirements, economy of operations, equipment efficiencies, and regulatory compliance. Validate weekly site progress and lead meetings to monitor conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Help resolve on-site issues and ensure timely decision-making.
Collaborate and communicate status with colleagues and management based in the US. Coordinate with global GWS functional SMEs and deliver projects per Lam’s expectations.
Who we’re looking for
- Construction project management experience in large projects and lab spaces with highly technical MEP designs and safety requirements.
- Understands all aspects and phases of the construction management process.
- Experience in high-tech fast-paced environment; focused on customer service. Can remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Experience in project cost controls and ability to present monthly status reports and revised capital forecasts to upper management.
- Understanding of legal concepts and commercial terms and conditions of traditional construction contracting instruments.
- Strong knowledge of Indian construction regulations, government agency approvals, and environmental compliance.
- Represents a culture of ethics and safety.
- Values transparency and internal and cross-functional teamwork to solve problems.
- Ability to travel to other Lam locations based on need.
Preferred qualifications
- BS degree in related discipline (Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management)
- 12+ years of experience in construction project planning and management leading projects over $100M. Experience in machine shop or semiconductor lab environment.
- PMP is preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills to exchange information with senior management, service providers, peers, and contractors.
- Ability to work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam location.
- Experience working with procurement teams to develop qualified bidders lists and leading competitive sourcing for construction projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Proficiency in basic software (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint).
