TEXAS LEHIGH CEMENT COMPANY - SLAG PLANT

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production/Process Attendant plays a critical role in supporting the plant needs of the manufacturing and shipping of Slag Cement.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Works under the CRO on shift basis.
  • Perform pre-shift area and equipment inspections daily for safety, maintenance, and housekeeping correcting problems as needed using best judgement or communicating with the correct department for repair. 
  • Make daily rounds to inspect, document, and report findings on machinery status
  • Operate equipment including but not limited to the screening plant, ball mill and its auxiliary groups, and truck and rail loading operations.
  • Monitor all equipment in the plant such as temperatures, pressures, amp gauges and other equipment instructed by the CRO.
  • Interprets gauges, charts and instruments to correctly adjust as necessary.
  • Operates heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators, bobcat, fork truck, jack hammer, and power tools as directed.
  • Fosters a positive work environment and promotes teamwork.
  • Support and maintain the plant safety program through day-to-day safety contacts with employees, holding department toolbox talks, inspect work areas, conditions and requirements are observed and comply with company safety standards
  • Responsible for using and maintaining daily logs, communication book, maintenance requests and daily shift logs.
  • Responsible for abiding by and supporting all company and plant safety policies, rules and procedures as well as complying with OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by management to meet the ongoing needs of operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and management team.

 

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to work rotating shifts and extended hours.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Accurate record-keeping and organizational skills.
    • Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to adapt to changing work conditions and prioritize.

     

    Education/Experience:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
    • Prior experience with rotating shift work and extended hours is preferred.
    • Prior industry experience preferred.

     

    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

    • Heavy lifting: Frequently lifting and carrying heavy objects, sometimes exceeding 50 pounds.
    • Repetitive Movements: Performing the same motions repeatedly, which can lead to strain on muscles and joints.
    • Standing for 12 or more hours per day.
    • Bending and Stooping: Regularly bending, stooping, and crouching.
    • Climbing: Climbing ladders or scaffolding, which requires good balance and strength.
    • Exposure to Elements: Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
